THE ORGANIZATION :
The Palestinian Working Women Society for Development (PWWSD) is a Palestinian Non-governmental Independent Organization, which forms a vital part of the Developmental Democratic Women Movement. PWWSD strives to empower women in the economical, social and political fields. In addition to that, the organization works on eliminating poverty and marginalization as well as working on combating all forms of violence and resisting the occupation. PWWSD works to its maximum efforts to stress gender equality within the various laws and regulations alongside with resisting the fundamental and patriarchal structure aiming at eliminating all forms of discrimination against woman
The PWWSD, in partnership with the WOMEN Network and the Palestinian Youth Union (PYU), will create a Gender Resources Centre in its headquarter in Gaza City, in the frame of a project funded by the Italian Cooperation
For its base in Gaza, PWWSD invites candidates with relevant qualifications to apply for the positions of TWO LOCAL OPERATORS of the Gender Resources Centre - GRC
THE PROJECT:
The Gender Resources Centre(GRC) is a Centre of services, meetings and initiatives for the promotion of gender equality and women’s empowerment
The aim of the GRC is to create a Centre for the collection of resources that can be mobilized in favour of women, to provide them the guidance for the access to services and to promote the empowerment of women as individuals and of the associations and institutions working for women and their rights in Gaza.
The main activities implemented in the GRC will be :
Provide listening and guidance to women with the activation of a help desk in the GRC
Realization of needs assessment activities _ focus groups and study circles
Organization of Seminars on gender analysis held by expert on gender, economics and politics and realization of the related publication of a Guide on Gender Analysis
Networking activity addressed to institutions, associations, local and international organizations working for women and addressed to the involvement of gender experts, academic and political women, women actives in women’s associations
Income generating activity with women in the outskirts of Gaza City.
The Political Empowerment of young community leaders and realization of a Report on the Violation of Women’s Human Rights in the Gaza Strip
Activities in the field: workshops and lectures on human rights of women and equality between men and women in the Gaza Strip and Public Hearings on the violation of gender equality and human rights of women
Open days to present the GRC’s activities to the citizenship.
Communication campaign for the promotion of the GRC.
Information and awareness campaign in collaboration with Radio Shabab FM (Ramallah) and local radios which will broadcast radio programs on the condition of Palestinian woman.
Creation of a discussion forum online
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Project Coordinator of the Gender Resources Center will work under the supervision of the Project Manager and of the Executive Director of the PWWSD. She will be responsible for the planning and implementation of all the activities of the GRC related to the project
-She will supervise and coordinate the work of the 3 staff members of the GRC, providing them the necessary guidance
-she will coordinate the work of the two Local Operators of the GRC in the realization of the activities;
-she will coordinate the work of the Communication Officer and support her in developing the contents of the promotional campaign of the GRC
-She should provide ongoing leadership, supervision, support and guidance to the GRC team with the aim to improve and develop appropriate services, within a common vision developed through a participatory manner
Activities
-She will ensure the quality of the implementation of all project activities above mentioned and work for a high involvement of women in order to obtain a maximum impact. These would include help desk, trainings, workshops, seminars, lectures to be held both in the GRC itself and also in the field in the North, Center and South of the Gaza Strip
-She will be responsible for the identification of the best modalities and the methodology for the realization of the activities and for the identification and selection of the beneficiaries
-She will be responsible for the elaboration of the contents and subjects of the activities and ensure their quality and their positive impact on the women who will participate
-She will be responsible for the realization of a Guide on Gender Analysis as a result of the Seminars about Gender in the economical and political situation of the Gaza Strip and the supervision of the realization of a Report on the Violation of Women’s Human Rights in the Gaza Strip resulting from the activity of political empowerment of young community leaders
Networking
The Coordinator of the GRC plays a central role in encouraging and supporting networking, information sharing, and coordination between the GRC and the existing women’s associations, associations offering services to women and local and international NGOs working in support of women
-She will held meetings in order to involve in the GRC activities: political women, academic women, women active in women’s associations and at the same time with associations, centers, institutions and services supporting women
-With the networking she will involve at least 10 relevant services/organizations as referents for the Help Desk and she will coordinate with them for providing support to women
-Through the networking activity the Coordinator of the GRC will be able to involve women experts in gender to take active part in the activities as speakers and facilitators
-She will undertake other tasks/responsibilities as requested by the Project Manager and the Executive Director of the PWWSD
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
The Project Coordinator of the GRC should be a woman resident in the Gaza Strip
Having at least 5 years of working experience in women’s association, as activities organiser, facilitator and coordinator
-Proved experience in supervision and team management and outstanding communication qualities
-Demonstrated experience in the direct implementation of programs that respond to women and girls problems and in promoting gender equality and the role of women in the cultural and political settings of the Gaza Strip
-Demonstrated experience with implementing participatory program approaches
-Have excellent Public Relation skills and the ability to build network and relations with stakeholders (individuals and organizations)
-Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English
Proven reporting and redaction skills about gender themes
Problem solving skills and ability to work within a team
-Reactivity, anticipation, adaptability, capacity to take initiatives and to work autonomously.
PREFERABLE
Experience in working with international NGOs
Driving license
