Background
Under the overall
guidance of the UNDP/PAPP Field Security Advisor
(FSA) and the direct supervision of the NSO Gaza,
the Security Guard Supervisor will supervise
Security Guard activities and responsibilities at
UNDP/PAPP premises. The hours of duty will be from
0800 hrs to 1530 hrs each week day and the
requirement to complete shift duties in the event of
security guard absence

Description of
Responsibilities
Supervise
Security Guard activities and responsibilities under
the supervision of the NSO and overall guidance of
the FSA to ensure all UNDP/PAPP security measures
are in place
Prepare and manage all administrative requirements
including the rostering, attendance and leave plans
of the security guards
Train and instruct all security guards in security
procedures
Provide courteous and friendly assistance to all
staff of all agencies and visitors to the UNDP PAPP
building as required
Assist NSO in all related security requirements when
requested

Supervise
security guard activities and responsibilities under
the supervision of the NSO and overall guidance of
the FSA to ensure all UNDP/PAPP security measures
are in place
Ensure access procedures, pass and ID system is
implemented as per UNDP standard operating
procedures
Ensure effective vehicle search is conducted at all
vehicle entrances
Ensure Security guards are patrolling premises at
least twice per shift
Ensure proper registry of guards daily notes and
handover books are in place
Maintain contact with the Police in front of the
office all time
Ensure a high standard of guard presentation,
diligence to duties, responsiveness and alertness is
maintained at all times

Prepare and manage all administrative requirements
including the rostering, attendance and leave plans
of the security guards
Prepare the guards’ roster at least one month in
advance
Prepare annual leave plans. Recommend leave
applications
Ensure fair shift roster for all guards whilst
maintaining a minimum level of overtime requirements
Conduct annual evaluation of security guard
performance as first supervisor

Train
and instruct all security guards in security
procedures
Train guards on premises evacuation drills and under
supervision of the NSO manage the conduct of drills
at least twice per year in accordance with standard
operating procedures
Ensure security guards are updated concerning new
security requirements or standard operating
procedures
Maintain a guard training register
Know, operate and train others in all security
equipment including alarm systems, closed circuit TV
systems (monitoring equipment) and search equipment
Ensure all equipment is maintained in working order

Provide
courteous and friendly assistance to all staff of
all agencies and visitors to the UNDP PAPP building
as required
Receive the notification of visitors from UNDP staff
and ensure records are kept
Ensure visitors are escorted to their destination
with UNDP facilities
In Gaza, ensure other agencies are notified on
visitor arrival
Ensure guards are maintaining a courteous and
respectful approach to all staff and visitors
Provide newspapers to entitled staff each morning
Provide reception assistance when required

Assist NSO in all related security requirements when
requested
Be prepared to work on shifts if required in
emergencies
Assist NSO in preparing and updating staff and
dependants lists
Replace NSO in the event of absence

Qualifications
: Education
Completion of secondary education. University
degree is highly desirable
: Experience
At least two
year’s experience as a security guard preferably
within the UN or an international organisation

Language Requirements
Fluency in both
written and oral English and Arabic

Requirements
Ability to respond to client needs with
respect and good humour
Knowledge of VHF radio procedures
Specific security training received in the areas of
security equipment, surveillance or search
techniques
Solid computers skills :
MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
Possession of a valid
driver’s license
Physically fit
